The LWV of Kitsap members are interested in many issues. These are some of the current topics and committees.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION (0-3)

---

The Early Childhood Education (0-3) Committee is chaired by Rosalind Renouard.

Our vision is that parents and other caregivers in Kitsap County provide the best care possible, based on research supporting children’s development during the very critical time period of birth to three years and that children’s parents have access to appropriate materials, services and support programs. HEALTHCARE

The League stays informed on key health and health care trends and concerns in our county, Washington state, and the US. Members keep up to date on League positions on health care issues and organize educational events on health care topics. 

HOUSING FOR ALL

---

At our 2024 annual meeting, the Kitsap League voted to begin a program of work to address and inform regarding the unhoused and housing insecure of Kitsap County. This program will work to inform and engage on the issue of homelessness and housing insecurity with a particular focus on educating and correcting misinformation, highlighting the wide array of efforts and services in the county, and educate the community regarding the opportunities to support local agencies and non-profits who are building solutions for our unhoused community.

KNOW YOUR COUNTY

Become an informed citizen! Learn about the structure and function of government in Kitsap County using a report developed by the LWV of Kitsap, with help from county officials and their staff. See the document and get more info on the Know Your County page.

PROTECT OUR DEMOCRACY (POD)

The POD Committee is chaired by Maurie Louis.

The goals of this committee are to ensure the continuation of our democracy by providing:

1. education about our democracy, the US Constitution and the importance of upholding the rule of law,
2. information regarding the integrity and security of our elections,
3. guidelines to discern between truthful information and misinformation, and
4. a safe platform for concerned citizens to voice their concerns.

REDISTRICTING REFORM

We seek to educate residents about Redistricting at the State, County and local level – what it means, why it matters and how it works. We advocate for defined processes at all levels that promote timely, fair, and effective representation. Learn more on the Redistricting Reform page.

VOTING

---

The LWV of Kitsap encourages all eligible Kitsap County residents to register and vote in local, state and national elections by:

• Running voter registration programs targeting both youth and adults.
• Informing eligible voters of upcoming elections.
• Providing links and literature when voters have questions such as election security or voter eligibility.

We work with the Kitsap County Auditor to ensure that our information is both timely and accurate.

We also organize and conduct candidate forums before elections so that voters can hear directly from candidates running for local offices.
