Election Day is November 3, 2026
  • Ballots will be accepted at ballot drop boxes until 8pm on Tuesday, November 3.
  • USE A BALLOT DROP BOX to ensure that your vote will be counted. Ballots mailed by USPS this close to the election might not be postmarked in time.
  • You can track your ballot status on VoteWA.gov and sign up for text alerts about your ballot by texting "VOTE" to 868392.
Haven't received your ballot yet? YOU CAN STILL VOTE. You can print a replacement ballot by going to VoteWA.gov. Or, if there's a problem with your registration (for instance, if your voter registration status has been marked as "Inactive"), you can re-register and vote in person at the Auditor's office in Port Orchard or at Vote Centers on Saturday Oct 31, Monday Nov 2, and Tuesday Nov 3.

Kitsap County— Ballots for the November 3, 2026 General Election will begin arriving in Kitsap County residential mailboxes beginning Wednesday, October 7. All registered voters should receive a ballot.

We recommend you use a ballot drop box to return your ballot. Additionally, if you have your Kitsap ballot but are in another part of the state, you may deposit your ballot in any designated ballot drop box and that county will send it to Kitsap County Elections.

Kitsap County drop boxes are open beginning Wednesday and will remain open around the clock across the county until 8 p.m. on Election Day. A list of all 27 locations is available at kcowa.us/vote.

Key Dates:

October 26: Last day to update registration online or by mail.

October 31 (Saturday) and November 2 (Monday): Vote centers will be open 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The vote centers are in:

November 3: Election Day. Vote Centers are open 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. Ballots must be returned to a drop box by 8 p.m. or postmarked by November 3.

Returning ballots by mail: For voters choosing to return their ballots by mail, we recommend you mail them by Saturday, October 24.

Federal News

As of September 14, 2026, there are no changes to Washington's vote by mail election process. The US Supreme Court ruled that the U.S. Postal Service cannot place new restrictions on ballot mail before the Nov. 3 General Election. (source: WA SOS website).

Take action: make a voting plan

There are ongoing legal challenges involving new federal requirements for mail voting, and the rules may change as those cases move through the courts. The League of Women Voters is closely monitoring these developments. WE WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED.

For now, voters should take these steps:

  • Know Washington state's rules.

    Check VoteWA.gov, WA SOS, and Kitsap County Elections for the latest information about registering, requesting a mail ballot, voting in person, and election deadlines. VoteWA.gov is also where you can confirm all your personal voter info is up-to-date.

  • When you receive your ballot in the mail, return it as early as you can.

    Don't wait until the last minute. Follow your voter pamphlet instructions carefully and allow enough time for your ballot to be received and processed. Use ballot drop boxes to return ballots if possible. (Here's a list of Kitsap's 27 dropbox locations)

  • If you requested a ballot and don't receive it, act promptly.

    Check your ballot status on VoteWA.gov and contact your local election official to learn what options are available to you. The phone number for the Kitsap County elections division is 360-307-VOTE (8683). Do not assume that you have to give up on voting. Under federal law, you can always vote in-person with a provisional ballot.

  • Have a backup plan.

    Know your options for voting in person if you need them, particularly if your ballot does not arrive in time. In Kitsap, you can vote in-person on the Saturday and Monday before Election Day, as well as on Election Day (note: there are often long lines on Election Day).   • Get reliable, current information

    Election rules can vary by state and may change as litigation continues. Use VoteWA.gov, VOTE411, and Washington's state election website for the most current instructions.

Bottom line: Legal and administrative changes should not prevent any voter from making a voting plan. Voters should know their options, act early, and seek help if a requested ballot does not arrive.

What can I do to make sure my ballot is received and postmarked on time?

  • Use an official ballot drop box. If your ballot is in an official ballot drop box by 8 p.m. on Election Day, it is guaranteed on time. Here's a list of Kitsap's 27 dropbox locations. You can also find a list of dropboxes at VoteWA.gov
  • If you choose to return your ballot by mail, the Kitsap County Auditor's office recommends you mail them by Saturday, October 24. 
  • Text "VOTE" to VOTEWA (868392) to subscribe to text alerts on the status of your ballot. Or you can check the status on VoteWA.gov.

Can I vote in Kitsap County without relying on the US Postal Service AT ALL to get/return my ballot?


Yes. You have two options:

A ) You pick up your ballot from the County Courthouse in Port Orchard on, or after, October 7. You vote at home. You return your ballot to any Kitsap County ballot dropbox.

OR

B) The Saturday or Monday before the election, or on Election Day, you go to one of the following polling sites: Poulsbo Fire Station, Marvin Williams Recreational Center in Bremerton or County Auditor’s Office in Port Orchard.
