One of our core missions is to educate voters.  To that end, we conduct Candidate Forums and other public education events throughout the year.  We generally record those events and post them to our YouTube channel.

A Conversation with Paul Andrews, Kitsap County Auditor - April 26, 2025.  Paul Andrews was our guest at the April Bremerton/Central Kitsap Unit meeting. Paul provided an update on the new auditor's facility and the upgrade to Kitsap County's voting system. He described the procedures that the auditor's office follows to ensure that our elections are fair and accurate, emphasizing that a major role for his office is to build public trust in the integrity of our election process through transparency. Paul reiterated that his non-partisan role is to follow the laws that pertain to elections, manage elections, ensure that all people legally eligible to vote are able to do so. He shared that, at this point in time, 4-26-2025, there are no changes to how Washington State conducts elections.

Affordable Housing and Homelessness in Kitsap County - March 1, 2025. The League of Women Voters of Kitsap hosted a panel discussion addressing the issue of the unhoused in Kitsap County. The panelists were Bremerton Mayor Greg Wheeler, State Representative Greg Nance, Bainbridge Island Mayor Ashley Mathews, State Senator Deb Krishnadasan, and Poulsbo Mayor Becky Erickson. The discussion was moderated by the League's Housing Committee Chair Amy Waterman. 

Rob Purser discusses The Boldt Decision and Evolving WA State and Tribal Fisheries Co-Management- Sept 22, 2024.  ROB PURSER, SUQUAMISH FISHERIES DEPARTMENT DIRECTOR, was the guest at the September 21st meeting of League of Women Voters of Kitsap, Bremerton/CK Unit meeting.  His insights into the history of fisheries in Kitsap County and the current challenges to protecting the salmon are thought provoking and a call to action.


Fostering Youth to Independence & Evergreen Bright Start – Mar. 17, 2024 The B/CK Unit hosted a discussion about housing for youth aging out of the foster care system in Kitsap and Bremerton.  Learn about  the “Fostering Youth to Independence” (FYI) program and a new transitional facility, Evergreen Bright Start, and find out how you can make a difference in the lives of Kitsap County youth as they transition into adult life from foster care.
