Health Care as the issue that is foremost in their minds when they submit their ballots. Add to that Women's Reproductive Choices and that makes Health Concerns the overwhelming winner of the "Why I Vote" Election.
Each voter was given three beans, one red for most important to them and two white for also important. They cast each bean into one of ten labeled jars. Children and Adults were eager to participate, but found it very hard to choose. Health was followed by three other topics: Democracy, Education, and Environment. One of the jars was marked "Other" and a number of voters cast a bean to housing issues: affordability/homelessness.
At our next "Why We Vote" election, we plan to include housing among our jars.
