Winter book selection will be How to Read the Constitution and Why by Kim Wehle.
This discussion meeting is in west Bremerton. Look for future announcements for additional locations and times for opportunities to join in small in-person discussion groups.
This insightful handbook lays out in common sense language how the United States Constitution works and how its protections are eroding before our eyes. It is essential reading for those who want to understand the constantly breaking news about the backbone of American government.
From Kim’s NPR interview: "I think it‘s really important for people to be educated about not only about their constitutional rights, which is one part of the Constitution, but the structure of our government," Wehle says. "And if we allow the government to consolidate power in one branch, one man, one party, then our individual rights break down. So it‘s that message that I think is often lost in the day-to-day discourse about whatever that latest tree that‘s on fire in the forest. I like to focus on the forest."

Our Guest will be Cynthia Stewart, LWVWA Advocacy Director. She will help us better understand how to use the legislative newsletter to advocate effectively for our positions. The Washington State 2026 Legislative Session begins on January 12th and continues for 60 days. Each week the Newsletter calls us to action to support bills that further the positions of the League. This meeting is hybrid and is organized by the B/CK Unit. It is open to all League members.
